Who we are
Background
The Ex-miners Association of Malawi (EMAM) is a non-profit organization founded by former Malawian migrant miners who journeyed to work in South African mines. Officially incorporated in 2015 under Malawi’s Trustee’s Incorporation Act, EMAM is dedicated to addressing social and economic challenges encountered by mineworkers, ex-mineworkers, their families, and the broader mining community.
EMAM is dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of miners and ex-miners. We strive to secure social and economic justice, promote public health, advocate for responsible resource management, champion gender equality, and empower communities. Through strategic partnerships and unwavering commitment, we work towards creating a resilient and sustainable future for all those connected to the mining and extractive sector in Malawi.
