What we do
We tirelessly advocate for the rights of Malawi’s ex-mine workers, particularly those who have worked in South African mines. Our goal is to ensure access to compensation and social security benefits, recognizing the invaluable contributions of these heroes to the wealth of South Africa & Malawi.
Equality is non-negotiable. We actively work towards dismantling gender-based discrimination within the mining sector. Our initiatives focus on empowering women in mining communities, advocating for equal opportunities, collaborating with women led organisations and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive regardless of gender.
As stewards of the environment, we are committed to responsible resource management and addressing the impacts of climate change on mining communities. Through sustainable practices and awareness campaigns, we aim to mitigate environmental degradation and promote a greener, healthier future.
Health is wealth, and we actively engage in issues related to healthcare access, disease prevention, and occupational health in the mining sector. We address conditions such as TB, Silicosis, HIV, and other mine-associated occupational health diseases.
At the Ex-Miners Association of Malawi, we are dedicated to addressing social and economic challenges faced by miners, ex-miners, and communities within the mining and extractive sector.
